We’re so happy to sponsor our members to do the Oxfam 100km Trailwalker Event last week and they did a wonderful job!
“It was an eventful experience for sure! Up to 28 degrees heat, 95% humidity during the day, torrential rain and flooding on the mountains at night. Of the 4,800 participants that entered, approximately 2,000 withdrew after the first 30km as they scaled one of the more challenging mountain trails (profile below) that basically turned into a river. Unfortunately one of them were one of those 2,000 who had to withdraw.
The 3 of us remaining managed “somehow” to keep going and complete the event, but certainly not in our target time. Finish up time was a lengthy 37 hours pretty much non stop climbing/running/walking with three 15 minutes breaks for food the whole time. Definitely a challenge: difficult but rewarding. The most important part is that we are well on our way to raising our goal of $9,000 USD towards Oxfam’s various poverty alleviation and emergency relief projects in Africa and Asia, including Hong Kong and mainland China (link in email below)”- Colin J.
